The Amuneke Effect on Nigeria Coaches

The Meteoric rise of Emmanuel Amuneke as a coach is not a surprise because of his ambition to prove himself as a player, and now as a coach.

However, during his playing days, the mercurial left footer was an all action player for the club side’s plied trade: Julius Berger Football Club of Lagos, Zamalek of Egypt, FC Porto of Portugal, Barcelona of Spain were some of the major club sides that Amuneke played for he indeed shown like a million star for the Super Eagles of  Nigeria – and his individual brilliance at the nations  cup in Tunisia ’94 and USA ’94 World Cup made it possible for him to be crowned the 1994 African Player of the year.

Though, injury dealt him a biter blow at the latter stage of his career, but he had stellar career for both club and country, and his decision to hang up his playing boot and go into coaching in a career that actually brought him fame and fortune, is indeed a wise decision that is actually paying dividend. As an assistant to Manu Garba in 2013 Golden Eaglet Squad that won FIFA-U-17 World Cup, is a worthy start and experience in his coaching career.

It was no surprise too that the ex-international further proved his mettle when he led a group of rookies to the 015 U-17 World Cup in Chile to win and retain the U-17 World Cup.

There is no doubting the fact that the former dashing winger has continued to grow in size, and stature – and with an enviable CV and profile in coaching, club sides across the shares of Nigeria have jostle helm of their technical crew. Though, he later had an uneventful adventure as the coach of SC Khartoum of Sudan, his coaching.

Indeed, being hired by the Tanzania Football Federation to manage it a huge gamble the Easter African nation were ready to take on a coach who had not coached.

However, Amuneke has been quietly doing his job as the coach of Taifa stars by getting them to qualify for the 2019 AFCOW tournament in Cameroon.

Equally too, doing well Coach of Tanzania will open more doors of opportunities for the coach who m may go on to coach more illustrious African countries if given the opportunity.

To this end, Amuneke’s rising profile is certainly giving to open more opportunities for other Nigerian coaches to be hired by other African club sides and countries who may be satisfied in Amuneke’s coaching performance.
