Inter Milan Eye Chelsea Striker, Olivier Giroud

Italian Club, Inter Milan are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud during the January transfer window.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, discussions are already taking place as Inter Milan manager, former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, is rumoured to be keen on getting Giroud into his squad as a backup for Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku has been a great asset to the Italian side having scored scored nine times in 14 appearances.

As for Giroud, Frank Lampard hasn’t given him enough playing time this season, only as substitute to Tammy Abraham.

However, Giroud scored in France’s 1-1 draw with Turkey in the Euro 2020 qualifiers last month which made it his third goal in four matches for France.

France coach Didier Deschamps praised him for coming off bench during the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Turkey but maintained Giroud must be active at his club to remain a popular selection for France national squad.

Luckily, Conte wants to sign him to strengthen his squad in Inter Milan as he isn’t happy with the way the squad is right now.

‘We have too limited a squad to face both Serie A and Champions League football this season.” He told Sport Mediaset

”I mean in terms limited in terms of numbers and quality.”
