Emery Faces Sack As Arsenal Suffer Miserable 1-2 Defeat To Eintracht Frankfurt

Unai Emery’s job might be threatened as Arsenal suffered a miserable 1-2 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in Europa League Group F match on Thursday.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored to get the Gunners in front at half time but Frankfurt’s Kamada equalised in the 55th minute.

Kamada scored the second goal to put the visitors in the lead to Emery’s visible dismay.

Just like in Arsenal’s home draw against Southampton in Premier league match on Saturday, fans booed the Gunners at the end of the match and held up placards calling for Emery’s sacking.

Thursday’s match against Frankfurt in a half empty Emirate Stadium makes it the seventh match Arsenal are without a win.

Ex-Arsenal defender, Martin Keown suggested that Emery should step down as head coach.

‘I think he may well have taken the team as far as he can,’ Keown said on BT Sports.

‘We just witnessed an absolute shambles of a performance, the team motivation, the team selection, the performance, the subs, it was dreadful.

‘The fans turned many years ago on Terry Neil, things got toxic, we’re getting close to that again. Is he able to motivate the team? He seems to have lost the players.

‘The desire has ebbed away. The subs he made – you’ve got Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette sitting on the bench when you’re trying to get back into the game.

‘He might even feel he needs to step aside now. Change was needed under Wenger but now it looks like the club need to go in another direction again. This is relegation form.

‘Do the club really realise how tricky this is going to be? Decisions have to be made otherwise they are going to plunge even further down the table.

‘It’s a sad day because we still love the club. It’s sad watching it.’ He concluded.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo is rumoured to be the top contender to replace Emery.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will travel to Norwich for Premier League match on Sunday and it remains to be seen if Emery will lead them as head coach.
