Leicester City beat injury plagued Newcastle 3-0 to continue their impressive season on New Year’s Day premier league match without top goalscorer, Jamie Vardy, for the second time.
Ayoze Perez scored the opening goal from a horror pass by Florian Lejeune in the 36th minute.
Lejeune committed another mistake three minutes later as he gave away the ball to James Maddison who scored the second goal for Leicester.
Then substitute Hamza Choudhury made it 3-0 after curling in the ball from the edge of the post.
Newcastle suffered a blow in early miserable first half when Jetro Willems and Javier Manquillo were removed due to injuries. Fabian Schar followed them at the start of the second after he substituted injured captain Jonjo Shelvey at half time.
Thus, Steve Bruce’s side ended with 10 men on the pitch and a miserable defeat to the foxes.
Leicester City remain second in premier league with four points ahead of Manchester City.
