Inter Milan Sign Man Utd Captain Ashley Young On Initial Six-Month Deal

Inter Milan have signed Manchester United captain, Ashley Young on an initial six-month deal for £1.28m, thus ending his 8 years stay in United.

The 34-years-old defender had earlier informed United of his desire to leave the club for the Italian side.

He played 261 times for United and was club captain this season, but only started 10 league games in 2019-20.

Young has not played in United’s past three games.

Young has played 39 times for England, joined United from Aston Villa in 2011 and has been part of squads that won the Premier League in 2012-13, the FA Cup in 2015-16, and both the League Cup and Europa League in 2016-17.

The England has joined fellow past United players, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez at Inter Milan where boss Antonio Conte is aiming to win the Italian Serie A.

In other news, the most expensive defender in English football, Harry Maguire has replaced Young as United captain.

Maguire, 26, has made 29 appearances for the Red Devils since his record £80m move from the King Power Stadium in August.

“Everything about him tells me is a leader,” said United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“Harry will keep wearing the armband now.”

Marcus Rashford, David de Gea and Jesse Lingard have also captained the United team since Young was unavailable at the time.
