Isaac Hayden’s stoppage time goal for Newcastle stunned Chelsea to a 1-0 defeat in a premier league match on Saturday at St. James Park.
Chelsea dominated the ball most of the time but found it very difficult to score as both Tammy Abraham and N’golo Kante missed their chances.
And the hosts didn’t give the visitors any space to score as they resolutely held on to their defense.
Newcastle came close to scoring in the 22nd minute when Joelinton headed against the bar after Federico Fernandez’s cross.
Then Hayden’s injury time header sent St. James Park into ecstasy, having moved them seven points clear of relegation.
Meanwhile, this is Chelsea’s first defeat since Boxing Day. The Blues remain 4th with five points ahead of fifth placed Manchester United who will play against Liverpool on Sunday in Premier League.
