Spanish giants Barcelona suffered a humiliating defeat in the hands of Bayern Munich as the German giants hammered them 8-2 on Friday to reach the champions league semi-finals.
The dominant Bundesliga champions controlled the first half as Thomas Muller scored the opening goal in the 4th minute f the game. Although David Alaba’s own goal levelled the game for Barcelona, two goals from Ivan Perisic and Serge Gnabry gave Bayern the lead within 27 minutes of the game.
Barça’s Luis Suarez scored in the second half after Muller made it 4-1 in the first half.
This is the first time Barça has conceded four goals in the first half of a Champions League match.
But Bayern weren’t done dishing out the humiliation as Joshua Kimmich scored the 5th goal from Alphonso Davies’ brilliant set up.
The Bundesliga side’s ace striker Robert Lewandowski netted through a set up from Coutinho who went ahead to score the last two goals within seven minutes to finish an incredible match that brought one of the darkest days in Barcelona history.
Bayern will now face either Manchester City or Lyon in the semi-finals.
