Liverpool Boss Klopp Confirm Retirement Plans After Contract Expires In 2024

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed he will retire from football and take at least a year off after his contract with the club expires in 2024.

The German tactician signed an extended contract that will end in 2024 last December.

But it seems he is done with football as he has no plans to continue after his current contract ends.

“I’ll take a year off and ask myself if I miss football. If I say no, then that will be the end of coach Jurgen Klopp.” He told German publication SportBuzzer as reported by the Mirror.

“If one day I am no longer a coach, there is one thing I will not miss: the brutal tension immediately before the game.”

Klopp had planned to take a year off after his contract with Borussia Dortmund finished in 2015 but was attracted by the prospect of Liverpool and signed with the club in December that year.

The German who was appointed after Brendan Rodgers was sacked in October has also said he is aware of the challenges his club will face ahead of the 2020/21 season.

“The whole club is hot for the new season, we want to be even better,” Klopp continued.

“We want to chase the opponents and the ball over the entire field, continue to be a super unpleasant team that is not fun to play.

“We’re not defending any titles, we want to get new ones, we’ve only just started winning.”

FrujuSports had reported that Klopp was named Premier League’s Manager of the 2019/2020 season.
