Sevilla 3-2 Inter Milan: Sevilla Win Thrilling Sixth Europa League Title

Sevilla were crowned Europa League champions for a record sixth time after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Inter Milan in Cologne.

Romelu Lukaku converted a penalty in the 5th minute to put Inter ahead at the RheinEnergieStadion.

However Luuk de Jong’s bullet header levelled the game for Sevilla within seven minutes and the Dutchman doubled his tally with another header in the 33rd minute.

But Inter bounced back when Diego Godin found the back of the net before the pulsating first half ended.

Then the game took a fascinating twist when Diego Carlos’ stunning bicycle kick deflected off Lukaku into his own net with 16 minutes remaining.

This is particularly sad for Lukaku who had a very brilliant debut season at Inter with 34 goals.

But it was a huge victory for Julen Lopetegui who won the first trophy of his managerial career, thus ending the season on a remarkable note.
