Raheem Sterling To Undergo Coronavirus Test Before Joining England Squad

Manchester City striker Raheem Sterling will undergo a coronavirus test before he is allowed to join his teammates in England.

Sterling had been at Usain Bolt’s 34th birthday party where the eight time Olympic champion is said to have contracted the virus and gone into self isolation, FrujuSports earlier reported.

However, Bolt has debunked the reports, saying he is still awaiting the result of the test which he took on Sunday and only self isolating in case he has indeed contracted the virus.

This is another blow to England boss Gareth Southgate who is about to announce his squad ahead of next month’s Nations League against Iceland and Denmark on Tuesday.

Southgate’s number one defender, Harry Maguire still has his assault and bribery case which is due to be heard on Tuesday in Mykonos to determine whether he is guilty or not.

Now, there are concerns that Southgate will have to leave out another key player, Sterling over coronavirus fears.

Sterling will be tested alongside other selected England players before they are allowed into the training camp in Burton next Monday. Any player who tests positive or shows symptoms will not be allowed to come in contact with the rest of the team.
