Messi Keen On Reuniting With Former Boss Guardiola At Man City

Lionel Messi has reportedly set his sight on reuniting with his former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan are also top contenders for the Argentine’s signature as they are making attempts to persuade him away from a possible reunion with Guardiola and friend Sergio Aguero.

PSG star Neymar, also Messi’s close friend during his Barcelona days has requested that the Ligue 1 side sign the 33-year-old but the French giants are worried about Financial Fair Play.

It is uncertain if Messi can get out of his contract, thought he had submitted his transfer request on Monday.

He wants Barcelona to activate his release clause which allows him to leave the club for free within 10 days of the Champions League final. But the clause has technically expired on June 10 after the original fixture was scheduled for May 30, but was delayed until August 23 because of coronavirus.

Barcelona have replied the request, disagreeing that the request is active which means the only way he can leave is if he pays the £626m (€700m) minimum fee release clause.

Although Manchester City have shown interest in the six-time Ballon D’Or winner, they are reluctant to join in Barcelona power tussle which has already resulted in the sacking Quique Setien and Eric Abidal.

But one thing everybody agrees with is Messi wants to leave Barcelona.
