Liverpool 4-3 Leeds: Salah Nets Opening Day Hat-Trick Against Ruthless EPL Newcomers

Mohamed Salah scored an opening day hat-trick against a surprisingly ruthless Premier League newcomers Leeds United in a game that ended in 4-3 painstaking victory for Liverpool on Saturday.

The Reds were leading thrice in the game but found themselves losing them to Leeds who came into the game with a bang.

It was Salah’s stoppage time penalty that gave the hosts maximum points in a very thrilling game.

The Egypt international opened the scoring with penalty as well in the 4th minute when Leed’s Robert Koch committed a handball in the area.

But Jack Harrison scored an exquisite equaliser in the 12th minute before Virgil Van Dijk headed a goal for Liverpool to take back the lead in the 20th minute.

But Leeds will not have it as Patrick Bamford took advantage of a Van Dijk slip to level the game once again in the 30th minute.

Liverpool took control with Salah’s spectacular strike in the 32nd minute before Mateusz Klich equalised for the third time in the 66th minute.

The game looked like it was headed for a draw until Leeds’ new signing Rodrigo inexplicably fouled Fabinho inside the box at stoppage time and Salah scored his hat-trick.
