Spanish winger of Nigerian descent Marvin Akinlabi must have impressed Real Madrid boss Zindine Zidane in the non-competitive match against Getafe on Tuesday.
Akinlabi has been allowed to train with the first team as a potential debut in Real Madrid’s La Liga opener against Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena this coming Sunday is imminent.
Training photos published on Real Madrid’s official website show Akinlabi partaking in Thursday’s workout held at Real Madrid City.
Akinlabi who plays similar role as outgoing winger Gareth Bale will likely replace the Welshman in the first team.
Akinlabi winger started the first half of Real Madrid’s win against Getafe, helping the Spanish champions take a 6-0 lead into the break.
Should he feature against Real Sociedad, he will become the first Nigeria-eligible player to make an appearance for Real Madrid’s first team.
