Ozil To Miss Out On Arsenal’s Europa League Squad

Mesut Ozil will not be in Arsenal’s Europa League squad which will be announced later on Thursday.

Ozil has not seen playing time with Gunners since March as he reported fell out with boss Mikel Arteta.

The 31-year-old played regularly for Arsenal until the coronavirus lock down which halted all sporting activities worldwide.

Asked recently why the World Cup-winner had fallen out of favour, Arteta replied: “The team is evolving, you can see the level they are achieving.

“This is where we are at the moment. We want to evolve more and play better and compete better.

“We need to keep maintaining that. I’m really happy with the performance here, how difficult they’re making things for the coaching staff to select the squad.”

Meanwhile, Ozil had offered to pay the full wages of Jerry Quy who was relieved of his job as the Gunners’ beloved mascot, Gunnersaurus.

Arsenal had sacked Quy who has been Gunnersaurus for 27 years, as part of the club’s efforts to save finances which has grossly been affected due to the lock down.

Arsenal will face Group B rivals Rapid Vienna in Austria on October 22 before matches against Dundalk and Molde in the Europa League after the international break.
