Super Eagles Stars Test Negative For Coronavirus Ahead Of Algeria Friendly

All Super Eagles players tested negative for coronavirus ahead of the international friendly against Algeria.

The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the development this evening before the kickoff against the reigning AFCON champions.

Gernot Rohr and his men were made to undergo the tests on Friday and they have been cleared of the virus. The football body tweeted on their official Twitter handle:

“All Super Eagles players and officials test negative to COVID 19 ahead of the game against Algeria tonight. #SoarSuperEagles #Team9jaStrong.”

There were rumours that four players tested positive to the virus on Friday. But the NFF debunked the claims.

“Please discountenance any reports that some of our players tested positive to COVID 19 ahead of tomorrow’s friendly game against Algeria. It is a blatant falsehood,” reads a statement on the NFF’s official Twitter handle.

“The writer of the story, who was not part of the press conference earlier today, totally misrepresented what Coach Rohr said that since the outbreak of the pandemic, four of our players had tested positive, but were all now fully recovered from the virus and back in action.

”The results of the COVID 19 tests carried out on the Super Eagles ahead of tomorrow’s game are still being awaited.”

Rohr has already revealed the starting line up for the friendly which include Iwobi, Chukwueze, Onuachu, Onyeka, Maduka and Ajayi.

The game will kick off at 7:30pm Nigerian time.
