Naby Keita Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Naby Keita has become the latest Liverpool player to test positive for coronavirus.

According to reports from Guinea, Keita contracted COVID-19 and has entered self-isolation after testing positive on international duty.

The 25-year-old has become the fourth Liverpool player to contract the disease after Thiago Alcantara, Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri.

Keita’s disease is yet to be confirmed by the Guinea national football body and Liverpool but if correct, it means he will not be available for Saturday’s Merseyside derby against Everton.

Meanwhile, Thiago who contracted COVID-19 shortly after moving to Anfield from Bayern Munich, is getting close to returning to action as he has come out of quarantine.

The midfielder confirmed the news on Saturday with a post on social media that showed him exploring his new city

Liverpool have also received a boost with Shaqiri, who returned a positive test last week but has made his return to action with the Switzerland team.

Shaqiri had gone into self-isolation in his homeland but a subsequent negative result saw him removed from quarantine, and he made his comeback by coming off the bench in the Swiss’ 1-0 defeat to Spain on Saturday night.

Mané remains in self isolation after he was forced to sit out Liverpool’s 7-2 humiliating defeat.
