Nigeria 1-1 Tunisia: Akpoguma, Dessers Make Debut As Eagles Are Held To Draw

Kelvin Akpoguma and Cyriel Dessers made their debut as Nigeria was held in 1-1 draw by Tunisia in friendly match in Austria on Tuesday.

Kelechi Iheanacho scored the opener to end his Nigeria goal drought. However, the Leicester City striker failed to extend the lead when he missed a penalty shot after Ahmed Musa was fouled in the box with Alex Iwobi creating the chance with a deft chip over the Carthage Eagles back line.

Tunisia whose penalty appeal was turned down before Iheanacho’s opener, equalised shortly before halftime after Dragier Mohamed found the top half of Nigeria’s post from a Rafia Hamza assist who got past a lethargic Kenneth Omeruo.

Nigeria put up a high defensive stance in the second half which handed the Tunisians more of the chances from counter attacking situations.

And Nigeria goalkeeper Maduka Okoye produced his best moment of the night two minutes from time as he clawed over the bar a tricky lob from Ben Slimane Anis.

Meanwhile, Gernot Rohr substituted Chidozie Awaziem, Jamilu Collins, Cyriel Dessers and Chidera Ejuke in place of Kelvin Akpoguma, Zaidu Sanusi, Ahmed Musa and Samuel Chukwueze.
