Chelsea 3-3 Southampton: Saints Snatch Draw At Stamford Bridge

Jannik Vestergaard’s last-gasp equaliser ended Chelsea’s quest for victory in a thrilling 3-3 Premier League draw on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s new signing Timo Werner opened his scoring account for the Blues with a brilliant goal in the 15th minute and scored another one when he beat Bednarek to the ball, lifting over Alex McCarthy and nodded home in the 28th minute.

However, Danny Ings rounded Kepa Arrizabalaga before finishing superbly in the 43rd minute.

The Saints then levelled the game in chaotic circumstances as another Kepa error from Kurt Zouma’s short backpass allowed Che Adams to score following a 57th minute melee in the box.

But Werner struck again, this time assisting Kai Havertz who went ahead to score his first Premier League goal for Chelsea in the 59th minute.

The game looked like it would end in 3-2 victory for Chelsea until Vestergaard spoiled the show for the Blues with a last minute equalizer.

Chelsea now host Sevilla in their opening Champions League group game on Tuesday before going to Manchester United on Saturday while Southampton host Everton in Premier League on Sunday.
