Guardiola Calls Up Nigerian Midfielder For Man City UCL Match Against Marseille

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has named matchday squad for Tuesday night’s UEFA Champions League meeting with Marseille and Nigeria-eligible player Felix Nmecha has been included for the match.

Guardiola included Nmecha in the 23-man squad that will travel to Marseille, making it the second consecutive game the England Youth international will appear for the club in the Champions League.

20-year-old Nmecha was a non-playing substitute as Manchester City came from behind to beat Zaidu Sanusi’s FC Porto 3-1 on matchday one at the Etihad Stadium.

He will be wearing the number 61 shirt should he play in the game.

Though he plays mainly for the U23 team of the Citizens, Guardiola knows Nmecha too well as he has trained countless times with the first team and the Spanish football tactician handed him his professional debut in a League Cup clash with Burton Albion in January 2019.

Other Nigeria-eligible players Nathanael Ogbeta and Tai Sodje will miss out in the game, though they were selected to represent City in list B after spending more than two years at the club.
