FIFA, NFF, Newcastle Utd, Inter Milan Celebrate Obafemi Martins At 36

Federation of International Football Association  (FIFA), Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Newcastle United and Inter Milan have celebrated Obafemi Martins as he turns 36 today.

The football bodies took to their verified twitter handles to celebrate Martins on his birthday.

Martins made a scoring debut for Nigeria in a 2004 Unity Cup game against the Republic of Ireland.

He featured for the Super Eagles in 2006, 2008 and 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, as well as one FIFA World Cup final in 2010 in which Nigeria crashed out in the group stage, before he finally drew the curtains on his international career.

On the club level, Martins played for Reggiana, Inter Milan, Wolfsburg, Rubin Kazan, Birmingham City and Seattle Sounders.

He scored the winning goal in the 2011 Football League Cup Final as Birmingham beat Arsenal 2–1 at Wembley Stadium , having been brought on as an 83rd-minute substitute.

Martins joined Chinese Super League side Wuhan Zall as a free agent in September 2020 after his departure from rivals Shenhua. There he was handed a one-year contract by the Han Army.
