AFCON Qualifier: Rohr To Drop Okoye, Akpoguma Ahead Of Nigeria Vs Sierra Leone Return Leg

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr is reportedly ready to drop goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and Kevin Akpoguma for the return leg against Sierra Leone.

This is because of their unimpressive performance for the Super Eagles in their 2022 African Cup of Nations first leg qualifier against Sierra Leone in Benin, Edo state.

Super Eagles took a 4-1 lead to the dressing room in the half time, and the expectations from fans was that they would score more goals in the second half, but the visitors stunned them to score three goals.

Okoye and Akpoguma struggled on the pitch in this encounter against Sierre Leone.

According to Completesports, Daniel Akpeyi will be the man who will be in goal in Freetown.

The trio of Ola Aina, Chidozie Awaziem and Tyronne Ebuehi are in line to replace Akpoguma at the right back position.

Despite not getting the desired result against Sierra Leone in Benin, Super Eagles of Nigeria are still topping their group with seven points and a win in Sierra Leone will give them the ticket for the 2022 Nations Cup.
