Premier League: Iwobi In Action As Everton Beat Fulham, Arsenal Hold Dominant Leeds In Goalless Draw

Alex Iwobi played a full 90 minutes as Everton beat Fulham 3-2 in a very tough Premier League game at the Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.

Fellow Super Eagles star Ola Aina also featured in the game for Fulham alongside other Nigerian-born stars Tosin Adarabioyo and Ademola Lookman.

England international Dominic Calvert-Lewin put Everton in front inside 42 seconds before Bobby Decordova-Reid levelled for Fulham on the quarter-hour.

Iwobi inspired the second goal for the Toffees as he made his way down the right before James Rodriguez and Lucas Digne combined to set up Calvert-Lewin.

Then Abdoulaye Doucoure scored his first Everton goal before substitute Ruben Loftus-Cheek reduced the lead for the newly improved Fulham in the second half.

Meanwhile, Nicolas Pepe was handed a red card for headbutting Ezgjan Alioski as Arsenal were forced to hold a very dominant but wasteful Leeds United in a goalless draw on Sunday evening.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds squandered a host of chances, both before and after Pepe was dismissed after video assistant referee consultation for sticking his head into Ezgjan Alioski’s face.

Substitute Rodrigo, Patrick Bamford and Raphinha – deep into injury time on his first Premier League start – struck the woodwork.

The Gunners were poor – yet again – and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s 60th-minute effort was their first of two shots on target.

They have scored one Premier League goal, an Aubameyang penalty against Manchester United, in five games since 4 October.

Both sides came into the game out of form – with three defeats in their previous four league games.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa will be happy with his side’s performance, bar the finishing, with opposite number Mikel Arteta relieved to pick up a point.

Arsenal remain in the bottom half of the table, moving up to 11th, two points above Leeds in 14th.
