The International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) has ranked Enyimba of Aba as the best club in Nigeria and also in the top 400 clubs in the world for 2020.
Enyimba finished second on points in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) for the 2019-2020 season.
The Peoples’ Elephant are the 352nd best club in the world with 50.5 points – a significant drop from 263rd ranking in 2019.
However, the Nigerian giants surprisingly ranked above six-time French champions Bordeaux (354th), record Belgian champions Anderlecht (362nd), Torino (372nd), New York City (372nd) and Shanghai Shenhua (384th).
European Champions Bayern Munich was ranked best club in the world followed by SE Palmeiras, PSG, Inter Milan and Manchester City in that order.
Al Ahly (31st), Zamalek (54th), Esperance (97th), Pyramids (103rd) and RSB Berkane (125th) made the top five teams in Africa.
Meanwhile, the NPFL was also ranked 77th strongest league in the world – also a significant drop from 57th in last year’s ranking.
