Koeman Lists Nine Barcelona Players For Sale

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman will reportedly sell nine players in the summer transfer window.

Koeman got rid of Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic, Nelson Semedo, and one other star he considered surplus to requirement when he was appointed Barcelona boss in August last year.

And after his arrival, the Dutchman was said to have pointed to the players he wants the club to sign but they could not due to the financial crisis caused by COVID-19.

Memphis Depay, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Eric Garcia were top on the manager’s wishlist but could not get any of them immediately due to cash crunch as reported by The Mirror via

Barcelona have also been linked with outgoing Manchester City star Sergio Aguero who is also Lionel Messi’s teammate in the Argentina national team.

The Blaugrana have suffered a series of defeat which saw them knocked out of the Champions League this season. But they are currently gunning for the La Liga title with just one point behind table leaders Atletico Madrid.

Below are the nine names Koeman is planning to offload this summer:

  1. Philippe Coutinho
  2. Martin Braithwaite
  3. Samuel Umtiti
  4. Ousmane Dembele?
  5. Miralem Pjanic
  6. Sergi Roberto
  7. Junior Firpo
  8. Carles Alena
  9. Matheus Fernandes

Alena is currently on loan to Gatafe but both clubs have held talks about a permanent transfer.

Fernandes has stuck around under Koeman’s watch but has played just once – as a 73rd-minute substitute against Dynamo Kyiv – while Ilaix Moriba seems to have overtaken him in the pecking order.

Meanwhile, Koeman has reportedly made attempts to convince Dembele to stay at Barca.

Dembele who has been linked to a move to Manchester United this summer, still has a deal with the Catalans until the summer of 2022.

But he will be allowed to sign a pre-contract with another club if he fails to renew his contract at Nou Camp before the end of this year.
