Sergio Ramos Tests Positive For Coronavirus Ahead Of Liverpool UCL Second Leg Tie

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has tested positive for coronavirus,before the club’s Champions League second leg quarterfinal tie against Liverpool.

Ramos missed the first leg of the Champions League tie, which Madrid won 3-1, due to a calf injury, and was already expected to miss out again.

The 35-year-old will now miss Madrid’s fixtures against Liverpool, Getafe, and Cadiz as he will spend the next 10 days in self-isolation.

The La Liga giants confirmed the news in a statement on their official website : “Real Madrid CF announces that our player Sergio Ramos has given a positive result in the last Covid-19 test that has been carried out.”

Sergio Ramos is the second player in recent times to test positive for coronavirus after defensive midfielder Raphael Varane.

The latest news means Eder Militao and Nacho Fernandez who started against Liverpool and Barcelona this past week, will continue for the next couple of games.
