Joe Willock scored an unexpected stoppage time leveller to help Newcastle end Saturday’s Premier League game against Liverpool with a point.
Mohamed Salah scored an early lead for the desperate Liverpool at Anfield but Jurgen Klopp’s team were wasteful in front of goal, failing to score again despite registering a further 21 shots on Newcastle’s goal.
And Newcastle eventually took advantage by scoring an equalizer through Callum Wilson but VAR disallowed the goal as the ball inadvertently hit his arm before he scored.
Undeterred, Steve Bruce’s side kept going and, with their final attack, Willock – who scored the winner in the victory against West Ham last weekend – struck home a deflected effort in the 90+5th minute.
Liverpool are now one point behind West Ham in the sixth position while Newcastle are nine points above the drop zone.
