Ek To Increase Arsenal Takeover Bid To £2bn

Spotify co-owner Daniel Ek is reportedly willing to increase his bid to buy Arsenal to £2bn.

Ek had earlier offered to pay £1.8bn three weeks ago but was turned down by Gunners owner Stan Kroenke.

The 38-year-old has since confirmed he remained interested in buying Arsenal despite the rejection and is willing to increase the offer to £2bn.

However, Stan Kroenke’s position remains unchanged as he and his son Josh Kroenke released a statement in April stressing that they remained “100 percent committed to Arsenal and are not selling any stake in the club”.

“Our ambition for Arsenal remains to compete to win the biggest trophies in the game and our focus remains on improving our competitiveness on the pitch to achieve this,” the statement read.

Ek said he would make a “very compelling offer” to the Kroenkes in order for them to sell the club after fans protested outside the Emirates Stadium in April following Arsenal’s decision to join a European Super League and called for the club’s current ownership to resign.

The billionaire has already held constructive talks with the Arsenal Supporters’ Trust (AST), with club legends Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp backing his takeover bid.
