Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has insisted the national senior team will be ready for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers despite their poor showing in the just concluded international friendlies against Cameroon.
The Eagles played a goalless draw against the Indomitable Lions on Tuesday after their 1-0 defeat last Friday.
However, Rohr is confident that Nigeria will be ready for the World Cup qualifiers scheduled to begin on September.
“We hope the fans can return to the stadium in September after this crazy Pandemic (Coronavirus), which has made everything difficult.
“We have to start well in Lagos (vs Liberia) and four days later, we play in Cape Verde.
“Cape Verde beat Cameroon 3-1 on their synthetic pitch recently. So, we know already that it will be very difficult.
“Our first two matches are very, very important.”
Nigeria hosts Liberia in the first game of the qualifiers and travel away to Cape Verde in the second fixture.
